Let me fill your cup.
Birth Doula
A Comprehensive Birth Doula means I will be there during your pregnancy until birth, followed by checking in on you after birth and making sure your recovery and mental health is being cared for as well. Postpartum check ins can look different for everyone depending on the situation, but it is typically weekly for 6-8 weeks after birth.
What will I do as your birth doula? I will provide continual advocacy, support, and resources for you every step of the way. My goal is to help educate you and make you feel confident in your body and your birth. If you are unsure about anything in your pregnancy or birth, I am there! Unsure if you’re contracting? Is this a mucous plug? Is my water even going to break? What are the shots they give the baby at birth? Do I have to be induced? I want an epidural, I think…or maybe I can do it without? Can I keep my placenta? What happens if I have to get a C-section? What to do if baby is breech? Can you help me find a therapist?
These are just some of the questions I am there to help answer. I will put everything you say that you want into a birth plan so you can feel trust in yourself.
At your birth, I have a lot of options in-person to help you rock each contraction - like essential oils, the famous birthing comb, massagers, journals, inspirational cards, and even cool nightlights! Maybe you’re wanting to get an epidural ASAP.…that’s fine too. We will make you feel comfortable. Scheduling a C-section? I can also be there for you as that is one incredible surgery to do just on your own, and there are decisions to be made pre-op, post-op, and in the operating room.
This birth is YOURS and we are going to power through it together. I am also there for your partner, if you have one. A lot of the times, our partners don’t know how to help or feel lost in the process. I am there to make sure they feel empowered as well.
I help everyone, so please reach out even if you unsure about if a doula is right for you! If I cannot help you, I will point you to someone who can.
(At this time, I am not doing home births).
The tea on fertility
I provide the birthing person (and their partners if needed) with the right kinds of testing to get done, list of respected medical professionals who are not just going to write you off, support if you are diagnosed with infertility and doctors to go to depending on if you need IUI, IVF, and researched supplements that you can look into that may help you.
Ultimately, if your path leads you to adoption or surrogacy, I am able to provide support to the birthing person in any scenario while simultaneously providing guidance to you.
This type of support looks a little different for everyone and can extend for a certain amount of months, so please feel free to reach out!
